Xi Feng: Wisdom families must first have smart household products. Adding sensing and communication functions to existing household products should not be a problem for manufacturers.

Cai Jinjiang: The wisdom of household products is the premise of smart families and a great business opportunity provided by the market. With the development of the three basic industries of semiconductor, communication and Internet, the cost of adding sensing and communication functions to household products will be lower and lower. Cai Jinjiang: Just like a group of talented people are not together, it is not a team. If a bunch of smart household items do not form interoperability, they cannot produce a smart family. Interoperability requires standardization, and standardization cannot be expected to be enforced by an organization one day. It requires active integration between enterprises. The Shenzhen Smart Home Association has concentrated on IC, IT, traditional home appliances, communication operators, building intelligence, security alarms, traditional lighting, audio and video, etc., and hopes to meet the standards accepted by all parties.

Xi Feng: The problem is precisely that various networking technologies and agreements generally have specific attributes. To achieve interoperability, a company either popularizes its own standards into industry standards or abandons its own standards to enforce others' standards. Both options seem to be difficult.

Cai Jinjiang: The reason why smart families have been in a divergent situation is this. Not long ago, Google bought all the assets of Nest for $3.2 billion, and built a platform to enter the smart home. When production companies, investors, and consumers all clamored, a roadblock was blocked. This is the brand of household appliances. There is no way to interconnect and control each other. Intercommunication is a levee of the smart family at the moment, but it can't stop the torrent of the smart family.

Xifeng : According to statistics, the smart home industry has an annual growth rate of 30.42%. It is estimated that the industry scale will reach 124 billion yuan by 2015, and the future will be ten times the size of the mobile phone industry. Such a huge market, as far as telecom operators are concerned, it is impossible for them to take advantage of its advantages to dominate the market.

Cai Jinjiang: As you said, the three major operators in China are now taking advantage of the smart home. For example, for example, China Unicom launched the “Smart Wo Home” in June this year, and it is possible to experience a number of businesses by placing China Unicom's set-top box at home. But the speciality of a smart family is that it is a comprehensive service industry that integrates information, function and human resources. The application areas include home entertainment, home control, smart home appliances, home education, home energy, family health and medical care. In all aspects, China Unicom's advantage lies only in information services. The home entertainment provided by its set-top boxes is only a small part of the smart family.

Xi Feng: The three operators use the advantage of “access”. For smart product manufacturers, they can also use the market share of their smart products to reverse integration!

Cai Jinjiang: There are indeed big manufacturers with this ambition. Take Haier's “smart family” as an example. It has a “healthy air solution” consisting of air conditioners and air boxes. It is a “meal integrated solution” consisting of kitchen cabinets such as “transparent refrigerator” and smart oven. The “Water Ecosystem Solution” consisting of a high-temperature cooking dishwasher, a “clothing care solution” consisting of a washing machine and a dryer, and a “home entertainment solution” centered on television and home theater are incomplete. However, the reason why I say it is "ambition" is that no family is willing to let a brand dominate the world.

Xi Feng: Wisdom family can also be called smart home service platform. From the creation of the platform itself, it seems that Internet companies or software development companies have more advantages in integration.

Cai Jinjiang: As mentioned above, the advantages of Internet companies or software development companies are in information services. If you want to truly implement functional services, such as smart cleaning, smart air conditioning, smart kitchen, smart situation adjustment and other scene services, you will not leave. Open a variety of intelligent hardware, and Internet companies have not enough understanding and design capabilities for hardware. For example, smart community pension, smart community medical and other services related to human resources must be combined with traditional service operators such as home economics, medical care, and catering. Internet companies or software development companies also have no integration advantages in the above-mentioned fields.

Xi Feng: The smart family is currently a warring country era with strange tricks, and the formation of relative unity is its inevitable trend. What kind of pattern do you predict in the future?

Cai Jinjiang: Just like the winner of Android, the smart phone operating system, the smart home service platform must be the winner of the third-party cloud platform. Of course, it does not rule out that companies like Apple can build their own smart home services with their incomprehensible influence. The platform, just from the point of view, like Apple's mobile terminal business, at least I have not found.

Xi Feng: Whether the smartphone is Android or Apple, its biggest feature is openness, and anyone can show wisdom on it. Do you think that the future smart home service platform is also an open platform?

Cai Jinjiang: Openness is the biggest feature of the smart home service platform. The range of smart homes is too wide. In addition to common household electrical appliances, it also includes lighting, monitoring, three-meter metering, water supply heating, and even switch sockets. For example, only household appliances include stoves, washing machines, game consoles, and televisions. , medical care equipment, fitness equipment, etc., according to research firm Gartner, the number of smart objects owned by ordinary families in rich countries in mature markets in 2022 will be hundreds. With so many intelligent objects, there is no open platform, and I can't imagine it.

Xi Feng: Can you say that smart families will bring about a new form of new business, and the formation of this new normal is itself a huge business opportunity?

Cai Jinjiang: Different from the product definition method of “what do you buy what consumers buy?”, consumers in the future will “customize” smart home services from their own needs, thus defining the future smart product form. The future development of the smart home industry will show a trend of “decentralization”. Whether it is TV, refrigerator, washing machine or router, lamps, switches, or mobile phones, tablets, and wearables, it is just one of the accessories for smart home services. Smart homes will also bring new forms and new formats to many traditional industries.
